Clumsy Me

Sunday I was clearing off the dinning room table after breakfast and stubbed my pinky toe on the bench.  I heard some crunching sounds and it started to bruise and swell and become painful.  I thought I just stubbed my toe and took it easy.  Well as the day went on the swelling and bruising increased and the pain never went away.

This morning it was still bruised and swollen and sore to walk on.  As as nurse, you tend to know too much, I was going through all these scenarios in my head.  Since the bruising and swelling was at the base of the toe in the joint and there was pain and my toe was a little numb, I thought maybe I could have a hairline fracture in my foot.  I made an appointment to see a doctor and she sent me for x-rays.

Sure enough the toe is broken, which I thought, and there was no hairline fracture in my foot, thank goodness.  My doctor said I did a real number and to come look at the x-ray. Sure enough there was 4 fractures in my toe.  How do you get 4 fractures in a pinky toe?! I opted not to get a boot but to wear hard soled shoes.  I have to buddy tape it and try to stay off of it as much as I can and take it easy for the next 6 weeks.  I was I had a copy of my x-ray since it is quite impressive. Instead you get to see a picture of my bruised and swollen pinky toe.

Well this will teach me not to clean.  Maybe I should hire a maid.  My mom says I need to join the grown up lady slipper club and get some good slippers to wear around the house so I don’t hurt myself again.  I may have to look into that.

Uncle Buck Time

So AJ likes to close doors. AJ likes to lock and close doors. Tonight, he decided to add “hiding the key” to his little game. Locking Mom and Dad out of their own room is so much fun!

What’s that scratching? Oh, you also locked the cat in Mom and Dad’s room. Well, I guess you got to keep it fresh don’t you.

I had to go all Uncle Buck on that door knob.

This is why I like corded drills. More power!

Another Laugh

I am loving these comics!  I came across another one today and it made me laugh since Andrew has done every single one of these to me!  I believe the women who write these have experienced this personally while raising children and write it in such a way we can all relate.  Some days, when it is the battle of the 2 year old, I take a deep breathe, tell myself I can do this and that other moms have been through this and have survived.

Yesterday, Andrew wanted to rock before nap time and wanted his stuffed kitty.  The kitty was on the other side of the bed and when he stood at his bed he couldn’t reach kitty.  He cried and wanted me to get kitty.  I kept telling him, you can get kitty, crawl on your bed and you can reach kitty.  He must of whined and cried about not being able to reach kitty before he sighed heavily and climbed on his bed to get kitty and then came over to me to be rocked.  So when I saw the girl on the couch who couldn’t reach her blankie, I know what that’s all about.

A Starry Night

When Aaron was in college and living in the dorms he covered his ceiling with glow in the dark stars.  He has a bag of hundreds of stars he has kept.  The other night he and Andrew decided to put the stars on Andrew’s bedroom ceiling.

They made cool designs on the ceiling and we maybe used a 1/4 of the stars in the bag.  Andrew loves laying in bed looking at all the stars as he falls asleep.

Snow Days

When we got all of that snow in January, Aaron and Andrew had a great time moving snow around.  Aaron got to use his snow blower quite a bit and Andrew loved shoveling. Last year Andrew was not a fan of the snow, this year he loves it!  We got him outfitted in snow gear and he spends hours playing out in the snow.

A cute picture of Andrew looking at the fish tank.  Every once in awhile the fish tank will catch his eye he we will go watch the fish.  Its always “look mom, fish swimming. Come see.”

Our Stage in Life

I love this!  This sums up the stage of life we are in at this moment, life with a 2 year old. I think Andrew has done everything demonstrated in this picture…”why cant you leave your shoes on, we need to go, come one, I don’t need to carry you, you are a big boy” are all too often the words coming out of my mouth.  Other moms have told me that this stage goes on for quite awhile.  Why is it when you are in a hurry, the slower your child becomes?  Is this a form of 2 year old rebellion?  I have come to realize what a treat it is to go to the store by myself and why moms go to Wal-Mart at 9:00 at night.  Oh life with a 2 year old.  I hope you enjoy this comic as much as I did.
