Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Everybody!  We had a lot of fun this year!  Andrew decided to go as Batman this year. (Anyone seeing a trend over the year…1st year Batman, 2nd year Superman, this year Batman. Hmmm.)

Saturday night we went to the ward trunk or treat.  Andrew all dressed and ready to go.  My mom embroidered the Batman symbol on his shirt and I made his cape.  One side is Batman and the other is Superman so we are ready at a moments notice.  The mask is from his first Halloween.  Andrew really got the concept of trick or treating this year.  He went to every car and said “trick or treat,” “thank-you” then “lets go to the next one.”

Monday night for FHE we carved pumpkins.  This pumpkin is the one Andrew grew in Grandpa and Grandma’s garden.  Every spring Andrew plants his pumpkin seed in a certain spot to grow his pumpkin.

Andrew is really into airplanes lately and this little airplane goes everywhere with us. So even the airplane had to fly by and see what was going on.  Andrew wasn’t too sure about cleaning out the pumpkin. He has always been a kids who doesn’t like to get messy.

On Halloween, Andrew was very excited to go trick or treating.

We started the evening out with Zack and Clara Nickels and went down our street and to the other side of Casey court.  By the time we headed back to our end of the street, he was getting pretty tired and was lagging behind.  We sent Zack and Clara to the street above us and we went to a few more houses on our street and headed home.  He got a lot of candy from just our street, he is set.  Half way through his bucket was getting too heavy and I had to carry it. We got home and took over handing out candy. Andrew loved answering the door and handing out candy. He then asked to go to bed at 8:00.  He was one tired boy.

New Church Outfit

Aaron went shopping the other day while Andrew and I were at my parents house.  He called to say Macy’s was having quite a sale and what size is Andrew in these days.

He came home with a pretty fancy church outfit which Andrew looks so handsome in.  I love watching Andrew walk around in this outfit, you can tell he feels fancy.  After Aaron combed his hair for church, Andrew would walk around telling us not to mess up his hair.  He needed “good hair” for church.

Snake Tie

Andrew got this snake for his birthday from Grandpa and Grandma Wright.  Let me tell you this snake is loved; he goes in the car with us, Andrew sleeps with him every night and he plays with it constantly.  Who knew this snake would become a important member of the family?!

Aaron was home and sent us picture via text of his new “tie.”  Andrew thought it was pretty funny.   The next day Andrew had to wear it as a “tie,”  so he tied it on, told me to take a picture and send it to Dad.  Andrew then wanted me to wear it as a tie and he would take a picture and send it to Dad. New fashion trend…humm.

Latah County Fair

The weekend after the Palouse Empire Fair is the fair in Moscow.  This one is fun since it is free and has two train rooms.  Since Andrew loves trains, we spent quite a bit of time there.  It was hard persuading him to leave. Grandpa and Grandma Mertes came with us and we had a great time!

Aaron is getting into Lego trains so we had to take a picture for him of the ones on display.

Grandma and Andrew did some digging in the Palouse archeology sand pit looking for artifacts found on the Palouse.

Andrew was quite impressed with the size of this pig at the fair.  It was a long pig.

Of course we had to check out the one tractor they had.

Andrew went on his first fair ride!  He wanted to ride the airplane one but once he got on and realized I couldn’t go with him, he freaked out so we tried the car one.  Grandma and I gave him a lot of encouragement and then he felt better about it.  Andrew made car noises, turned the steering wheel as he went around the corner and gave Grandma high fives as he went by.  Since there wasn’t a line, the carnival guy let him go around twice since Andrew loved it so much.  After that he was hooked and wanted to ride all the rides and play all the games.  I had to tell him I didn’t have that much money with me.  Maybe next year.

Grandpa and Andrew got a flag from a booth and Andrew would walk around waving his flag.  It made Grandpa feel very proud.

Our last stop was to see the fire trucks.  Andrew loves fire trucks and had a good time “driving.”

Afterwards Grandpa and Grandma treated us to lunch at McDonalds.  Andrew was in heaven!  He had a great day!

Palouse Empire Fair

We make it a tradition to got the Palouse Fair  in Colfax every year.  We made the mistake and left for the fair the same time a WSU football game was over.  It was against Eastern so everyone was headed back to Cheney, Spokane or Seattle.  It was funny because the house, before the old Albion road, was having a yard sale and the traffic suddenly slowed down to 25 mph but once we passed the yard sale everyone was going 60 again.  I guess we had people gawking at the sale.

Welcome to what Pullman is like on game day.

Andrew loved seeing all the animals and tried to feed each one some hay or straw, but nevertheless the animals didn’t want to eat it.

Of course we have to play on the tractors when we go.  Aaron and Uncle Tyler tried to convince us they needed one of these tractors and were trying to figure out the logistics of all of it. Aunt Kate and I just rolled our eyes.

We also checked out the exhibit barns and saw a cool carnival set that Andrew was mesmerized with.  He also enjoyed drawing circles on the big chalkboard.  And of course Andrew and Aaron had to ohh and ahh over all the lego sets.

We watched part of the rodeo, but Andrew got bored.  We ate some traditional fair food and had a good time walking around the fair.
