Happy Birthday to me!

Today is my 32nd birthday and the thought still amazes Aaron. He has many times commented how I am 32 and he is not even 30 yet. Yes, I am older than Aaron.

I had a wonderful birthday today! We went to church where many wished me a happy birthday, then came home and Aaron made me a wonderful lunch. He told me to relax on the couch and he would take care of everything. He made homemade chicken strip salad and garlic cheesy biscuits on the side. Fancy, huh and oh so yummy!

I then took a nice nap, which was well deserved being a wife and mother (and being Sunday). Then we were off to my parents for dinner and festivities. My mom did a Mexican fiesta theme with the works! I love Mexican food, so I was excited! There were decorations, lots of yummy Mexican food. She made 7 layer dip, tacos, enchiladas and chimichangas. For dessert she made homemade flan and fried ice cream. I have never had flan before and wanted to try it.

IMG_4012 I forgot about the camera till after dinner, but here on some of the table decorations.

The flan

My mom went to all the effort to make flan from scratch and then went to the store and noticed Jello had flan in a box, so she bought it for me to make and see how it compared to the homemade version. It would have been fun to be there with my mom to see the look on her face when she saw the there was a mix you could buy and all you had to do was add milk.

The “fried” ice cream

The Mclain family came over for dessert and presents. It was so wonderful to have them there with the family. I got spoiled with the presents. Aaron got me a steel jewelry making set. I saw this idea where you take washers or other metal discs or blanks and then stamp words or names on it with steel alphabet stamps. He got me a variety of washers and discs and the alphabet and number stamp sets. I am excited to use it. I also got a table runner, photo album set, variety of thread for sewing and to top it all off, my parents bought me a new sewing machine! I couldn’t believe it! I have a really old sewing machine and my parents knew I was looking to upgrade, but I had no idea they would buy me a new one! I am excited to try it out! I had such a great day! Thanks to everyone for making it special!

Andrew is a half

Today instead of referring to Andrew as 6 months old, Aaron referred to him as a half. I have never heard 6 months of age described as a half, but that is what he is. I then teased him when Andrew turns 1 he will be a whole? Ahh, to think like an Engineer.

Well Andrew is now 6 months old last Saturday! I cannot believe it! He is doing great. He is eating cereal and this week we started him on bananas (which I think he is still getting use to). He pretty much weaned himself from nursing, much to my dissatisfaction, I wanted to nurse till he was 1, but he had other plans. My milk was starting to dry up anyway and he was getting frustrated. I think we have an independent boy on our hands, he seems to always want to do things himself. He has always taken a bottle well, so it was an easy transition.

He can now sit up by himself, he grabs his feet and likes to play with them. He loves to stand and can pretty much stand there holding onto something by himself. He still will not roll over, but he is getting more wiggly, so I think it will happen any day. He has learned to shake his head “no” and loves to “dance” and “sing.” Whenever we are in the car, he is singing and babbling along to the music (I think he learned it from his parents since we are always singing in the car). He loves looking at books and being read too. The weather has been nice and feels like spring, so we have gone on walks and played in the backyard. Andrew has enjoyed seeing all the dogs and cats on our walk that have come up to say hello.

Here on some pictures for you to enjoy. As you can tell, he is a silly boy and is always making us laugh, which in turn makes him laugh. We are really enjoying having him in our family and are grateful we can be a family forever.

He had his WBE appointment and his stats are:

Height: 26.5 in. (50%)

Weight: 17 lbs 1 oz (50%)

Head size: 45.5 cm (90%) (yes, he is still top heavy)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We had a wonderful day yesterday.  Aaron made a fancy dinner and it was great to spend time together.

This year we made presents for each other.  I made Aaron a Love Note mailbox and throughout the course of the week, I put love notes and his favorite candies in the mailbox.  It was a lot of fun to do little things for him over the week to show him how much I appreciate and love him.  I think he enjoyed coming home from work and seeing if the flag was up on the mailbox.

The past week Aaron spent his evenings out in the garage making my gift.  I was not allowed to go out there all week.  He brought it in Sunday night and put it on the table and led me in to see it.  I saw it from a distance and said “I don't know what it is, but I love it!”  That gave Aaron a good laugh.  I then looked at it closer and saw it was an earring holder.  He knew I was looking for a way to organize my earrings and he came up with the design and made it for me.  I love it!  I have the best husband ever!

I got a balloon and teddy bear delivered to work from my Visiting Teachers from church on Friday. I brought it home and Andrew thought the balloon was the best thing ever.

Have binky…will bathe with it…

The past few nights Andrew has been going to bed earlier and it is throwing off his usual bedtime routine. Tonight after he ate, he was rubbing his eyes and ready to go to bed, but he needed a bath. So he took a bath with his binky. He would not let it go and would cry every time I took it out.

He then realized a bath time was fun and he didn’t need his binky. He learned to sit up by himself last week and has had fun being a big boy.

Andrew was so funny with this fish. I was letting the water out of the tub and he was still playing with this fish. He would hold it in his mouth and kick with his arms and legs. If it fell out, he would put it back and hold it with his mouth. He is like a little puppy.

He is such a cute little boy. We love him!

Love Is In The Air

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I saw some cute ideas for decorations, so I made them. I have been bitten by the craft bug lately and have been spending some quality time in the craft room (good thing Andrew is still a good nap taker).

I made the Love banner and my amazing friend Sarah, made the heart wreath. (Thanks Sarah, I love it! You’re the best!)

I also made an XOXO table runner for our dinning room table.
