A 20's dance

Last night we went to a 20's themed dinner and dance. They had the place decorated like a old style Italian restaurant and served pasta. We danced the night away to a live swing band and had so much fun!

We made it a year!

Everyone keeps telling us the first year of marriage is the hardest and we will be so glad when it is over, but it wasn't bad at all.

For our one year anniversary we decided to go to Coure d' Alene, Idaho for the weekend.

Aaron had never really been to CDA before, so we drove around the town and went to the touristy downtown area. We walked around and had lunch at the Dockside restaurant in the CDA resort. After a lot of driving, we finally found a family fun center with mini-golfing, which we love to do, before we checked into our bed and breakfast.

Look! Janel almost got a hole in one!

The American Country Bed and BreakfastWe stayed in "The Big Sweet." It is their honeymoon/anniversary suite. It is decorated in "sweets" which were not real, but still tempted Aaron to eat them. It had a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub for two. What a way to relax!

After we checked into the B&B, we had reservations at "The Cedars." It is a floating restaurant on Lake Coure d' Alene with a 360* view of the lake. The sunsets are gorgeous on the lake! We walked in and everyone wished us a happy anniversary and gave us free dessert. The food was wonderful. We were so full and we came back to the B&B and they had hot cookies from the oven waiting for us. We definitely got spoiled this weekend.

The next morning we were fed a great breakfast and then decided to walk around the lake. The weather was so beautiful that we wanted to play outside. We decided to start at the "world's longest boardwalk" around the CDA resort.

Ready...set...go!

Happy Anniversary!

Janel turns 30!

Aaron threw my an 80's theme birthday to help me celebrate a "birthday milestone." Aaron decorated our place "80's style" and bought 80's jewelry and glow bracelets for everyone to wear. We played guitar hero-80's version, 80's sing song, and danced the night away to great 80's music. Who doesn't love 80's music?! Aaron played Alex Trebec and created an 80's trivia jeopardy game, which even included a "Janel" category. We ate all the foods I loved as a child and Aaron made cake cones, which were my favorite birthday treat growing up! What a great way to turn 30! I love the 80's!

Office Remodel

So we had this idea to put hardwood down in the office, hallway, and kitchen a while ago. The hallway and kitchen were done some time ago, but the office was a much bigger pain because of all the stuff in there.
Well we finally got to it recently. When we got all of the stuff out of the office, we pulled up the carpet. There were a lot of staples in the floor. I think the room had been re-carpeted before, and they just left the staples there. So that was a whole lot of work, getting all of the staples up, and we kept finding more we missed throughout the project.

When we got all of the carpet out, we figured that you don't get a better time to paint than this, so decided to paint the walls too. We went down to Walmart and picked up a nice blue. the painting went good, but we had so much paint left that we did a second coat. I figured it couldn't hurt.

We also decided to redo the light fixtures and outlets to try and make a theme in the office. The ceiling light was a pain because the existing mounting box was recesed too much. We tried to get longer bolts, but they light manufacturer decided to use non-standard bolts, and the hardware store was just baffled that it had no matching bolts. So I got creative and just used the same bolts with some spacers on the mounting bracket. It worked great, but I won't buy from this company again.

This is the new light fixture.

This is the bookshelf storage area. Lots of Janel's crafty stuff already organized away.

This is the computer area. The rolly chairs are the best on the new floor.
