Our Family, Chalk Style

We enjoyed the nice weather and  did a lot of playing outside today.  We did some sidewalk chalk in the  backyard.  I drew a sun and then Andrew drew a sun.  Then we did our family. I drew mom, dad, Andrew and pepper  and wrote mom, AJ and pepper. Andrew wrote dad and Isaac and also drew a picture of Isaac. He is getting so good at drawing and writing his letters.  I  love this stage of learning.

We went on a walk twice and Andrew rode  his  bike today.   I am really enjoying this time we get to spend together being out in nature enjoying the sunshine.  We've had quite a few teaching moments together and I am grateful I can be the one to teach him and answer his questions.  I love watching a three and half year old's mind at work.  I am so grateful to be a stay at home mom and to teach these two wonderful little boys.  I know it can be trying at times,  but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Fashion Police

I try  to give Andrew as much independence in his choices but sometimes I have to draw the line. Today he got dressed himself,  choose what he wanted for breakfast and what he wanted to do this morning.  I told him we needed to run to the store and to get on his shoes and socks. He ran upstairs and got his socks and shoes on and was in the process of zipping up his coat when I looked over to see how he was doing. This is what I found:

I just couldn't let him out of the house looking like that.   I  told him to fix his pants and he said "what's wrong with them? They  look fine." I  fixed his pants and we were out the door with me shaking  my head thinking,  you're such a boy.

New Kicks

We were at Ross and Andrew wanted to look at his shoes. Lately he has been obsessed with trying on his size shoes wherever we go. He found these green and white Adidas shoes in his size and told me every reason why he needed them: "Mom, my black shoes are falling apart, they hurt my feet, they are stinky since I didn't wear socks..." (Which are all true!) So Andrew got some cool new shoes. He calls them his "Green Lantern" shoes. Andrew is very much into superheroes and would be happy to wear his Superman, Batman or Green Lantern shirt every day. He is sporting his Green Lantern one today.

The Boys Ganged Up

We went to TJ Maxx yesterday hoping they still had another curtain panel in stock that I bought last week. After we got the curtain (phew, there was one left), we went and looked at toys.

There was this cute monkey/blanket I showed Isaac and he started laughing and talking to it, super cute. When we were done I went to take it away from him and he immediately started crying and reached for it. I looked at him in awe thinking "you are only 3 1/2 months, how are you reacting like this?!" I told Isaac we don't need anymore toys but he cried and Andrew kept telling me "he really likes it, you need to buy it for him." Nevertheless, we came home with it and Isaac loves it. I guess I can't say no to two cute little boys.

On the flip side, I was so proud of Andrew to make his brother happy and not even ask for a toy or whine that he didn't get to buy something. He is such a great big brother who loves his little brother, who in turn adores him so much.
