Happy Easter

We had a great Easter weekend at our house.

Saturday we took Andrew to the Albion Easter egg hunt.  All the Easter Egg goodness in his age group.

He mainly picked up the loose candy on the ground.

I had to open a plastic egg and show him there was candy inside, then he would grab whatever.

Even Grandma Mertes was helping him find some good ones.

Saturday night Aaron’s parents came for the rest of the weekend.  It was so great to have them here. Sunday morning we woke up to find where the Easter bunny hid our baskets.   I even got an Easter basket this year.

Aaron’s parents brought Andrew an Easter basket and Pepper was interested in what was inside.  Grandpa and Grandma Wright bought Andrew a bowling set, a stuffed bunny, a whole package of matchbox cars and candy. Andrew thought it was more fun to use a bowling pin as a golf club to hit the ball.

Aaron was showing his parents how his camera had a remote to it, so we did some family pictures.

After church we made a traditional Easter dinner and my parents came over to eat too.  It was so fun to have both sets of grandparents there for the day!  We had such a great day and loved spending it with family.

And of course Andrew and Grandpa playing cars the rest of the day.

Welcome to Chickland

Our neighbors, the Nickels, have baby chicks this time of year and when the chicks are big enough they open Chickland in their garage.  They get out all the Little People toys and make a town out of it.  The chicks can go into the houses, go to the doctor and store and ride the cars and bus.  Andrew thought it was great!

He especially liked this one little chick named Steve and Steve rode the bus all around town,

Laurel showed Andrew how to put Steve in the pocket of his apron and where to put his hand to support him there, he would fall asleep in the pocket.  Andrew sat for quite awhile watching Steve sleep in the pocket.

Fun With a Laundry Basket

Lately Andrew has been having a good time with this laundry basket…he rides in it, hides in it, crawls around with it on top of him so all you see is a basket moving by itself  (so funny!).  Who would of thought a laundry basket was so fun?!

New Bed

Andrew has really outgrown his crib/toddler bed and it was time to get a big boy bed.  There are so many nights we hear him fall out of bed or we go in to check on him and he is on the edge and Pepper (our kitty) is sprawled out and taking up a lot of the bed.

So Saturday we went and picked out a new bed for him.  We decided to get him a regular bed frame and a nice twin size mattress set.

He seems to like his new bed and sleeps well in it.  There is plenty of room for him and Pepper.  And of course pictures of him being goofy.

That next week I worked on a quilt for his bed.  We are doing his room in Superheroes so I made a quilt with superhero colors and stars on the back.  This was my first attempt at a quilt and I was pleased on how it turned out.  More pictures of come when we finish decorating his room.

Sewing Fun

We had a girls craft day with my family on Saturday and I still had my sewing machine out on the kitchen table.  It was unplugged and ready to go upstairs as well as a pile of things that needed to go upstairs.  I looked over and Andrew had taken the cover off and plugged the cords into the sewing machine.  He then grabbed a bib off the table and was ready to sew.  He lifted the pressure foot and put the bib where he wanted and then lowered the pressure foot.  He then said “hmm, it doesn’t work.”  He looked around and then I heard him say “oh!  It needs to be plugged in.”  He then proceeded to plug it in the outlet and started sewing the bib.  There wasn’t any thread in the machine, but it was fun to watch him start sewing then push the back stitch button and then sew to the edge, release it and then sew to the other end of the bib.  He is such a mechanically minded boy.  There are so many people that see him and say we have a future engineer on our hands.  Aaron couldn’t be prouder.
