Happy Birthday Andrew!

Andrew celebrated his 3rd birthday back in August.  I asked what kind of birthday party he wanted and since he is into Lightening McQueen and Buzz Lightyear, I thought I would be planning one of the those, but he wanted a rocket ship birthday with ice cream sundaes.

The day of his party it was really hot outside, almost 100 degrees, so we turned his party into a water party.  We had a slip n slide, raft full of water, sprinkler and water balloons.

Grandma Mertes found rocket ship cake pans and Andrew helped me make and decorate the cakes.  Andrew picked out cookie dough ice cream, as well as chocolate ice cream.  We had lots of yummy toppings.

Andrew got quite the load of presents!  He got a Spiderman bowling set, Rocket Ship and space station with a moon rover, motorcycle, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, Batman toy and a nerf gun. Mom and Dad got him a strider bike, which he still isn't too sure about.

On his actual birthday, he woke up to his favorite breakfast; chocolate chip pancakes, strawberries and strawberry milk.  We ate all the cake at his party and Andrew decided we needed another one for his birthday.  He picked chocolate cake again and made it all himself.   We went to McDonalds for lunch, Andrew’s favorite. If it were up to Andrew, he would have chicken nuggets, fries and chocolate milk everyday.  Dad and Beth, Maeli, Tucker and Riker met us there and had a great time playing.

The next day we had to go to Walmart to buy another nerf gun, since Dad and Andrew had a hard time sharing.  They set up staked cups on the dining room table and shot the discs at them.  They had a great time and there were discs all over house!  Talk about two happy boys!

A balance bike was the best thing we ever got Kent. He got it for Christmas this past year. It took about 6 months for him to master, but once he did he loved it. Don't give up hope, just keep encouraging Andrew and eventually he will figure it out and when he does he will be ready for a two-wheeler. Starting with a balance bike made teaching Kent to ride a two-wheeler so easy!
