Our New Adventurer

Aaron was watching Andrew tonight while I was at Mutual and he realized it was quiet, maybe too quiet.  So he went to see what Andrew was up to and this is what he found…

I was thinking last week, well the house is childproofed until he knows how to climb the stairs, but that will be a while.  Now between crawling and walking, no where is safe from Andrew.  He is one smart, busy boy.

Andrew is 1!

Andrew turned 1 on Friday and had a great birthday weekend.  We opened our door in the morning to find balloons and sugar cookies Grandma Mertes dropped off on her way to work.

AJ would eat off all the mini M&M’s first and then decide if he wanted the cookie or not.  He knows where the good stuff is.

Saturday we had his bug themed birthday party.  We had such a great time with friends and family.

Aaron, Robyn (Aaron’s mom) and I made bug themed snacks for the party.  Ladybug strawberries, ants on a log, and peanut butter cracker spiders. We also made ladybug, bee and spider cupcakes.  I made goodie boxes full of gummy worms for everyone and bubbles for the kids to take.  We also had a bug making station with pom poms, pipe cleaners and googlie eyes.

We sang Happy Birthday to Andrew and he seemed to enjoy his ladybug cupcake.

Andrew got spoiled with all the new toys he got.  Towards the end he wasn’t having as much fun since he and dad would open a present and then he would see it and dad would put it aside to open another one.  It really is a mean way to do presents since he thought they were great toys and wanted to play but then they were gone and he didn't know if they were coming back.  What a tease.

After they got done opening all the presents, we took them out of the packages and let Andrew and the other kids play with them.  Andrew was much happier then.

Thanks for all who made Andrew’s first birthday a success!  We had so much fun!

Lentil Festival

Friday Aaron’s parents and Charles and Kati and their two girls came up for the weekend. We went to Sunnyside Park and fed the ducks (it is one of our favorite things to do in Pullman) and we went to the Lentil Festival in the evening.

Andrew thought the fire truck was pretty cool. Even dad had to try on the hat.

Clark’s boss is a Husky, where Clark is a Cougar so we had to take a picture of Clark feeding the dog to the cougar for his boss. That is Emily’s new puppy, Tank. So cute!
