Tying Shoes

Andrew loves tying shoes, well his way.  On Sunday, he was sitting on the couch wearing one of Aaron’s shoes and trying it.

This is the look Andrew has been sporting quite a bit lately.  He loves his snow boots and wears them with anything: jammies, shorts, jeans.  I think he likes he can put them on by himself, they have cool velcro, and the fact they are always downstairs, so he doesn’t have to go up to his room to get his shoes.  Since the weather is getting warmer, I need to put his boots away and keep a pair of slip-ons in the basket by the door.

Mother’s Day

What a great day to be a mom!

(Andrew will only smile when it is on his terms.  Got to love the stages they go through to learn independence, right?!)

Aaron and Andrew made me breakfast, oven pancake with strawberries and sausage.  Yummy!

They also bought me gifts.  Rachael Ray spoons (I was always intrigued on the built in slits to hook onto the side of the pan), an EVOO bottle and a card they made themselves.  They also bought me flowers from Neil's Flowers (I felt fancy!).  The florist gave Andrew a gerbera daisy to give me.

We went to church in the afternoon.  When we got to church, Andrew was already having melt down so I knew it was going to be a long 3 hours.  He feel asleep during sacrament meeting and then only wanted me and didn’t want to go to nursery.  I sub in primary so he went to primary with me.  He then wanted to go to nursery half way through but wouldn’t let me leave.  I guess he needed his mom.  I went on a girls getaway and was gone Friday evening and didn’t get home till dinner Saturday, so maybe he needed some mom time.

After church we took a family picture and then went to Klemgard park to celebrate with my family.  We bbq and played.  The weather was sunny and perfect!  I couldn’t have asked for a better Mother’s day!

I am so grateful and lucky to be a mom of such a great little boy.  Some days are harder then others, but I wouldn’t trade being a mom for anything in the world!  It is the most amazing thing I have done in my life!  I am so grateful to Aaron for being such a hard worker and having such a great job, so I can stay home with Andrew.  I love being home with him all day and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tiny Bubbles

Tiny Bubbles is a song my grandpa would always sing.  (Yes, he is a Lawerence Welk Fan.)

Andrew loves bubbles and we are always outside blowing bubbles.

Aaron bought Andrew a bubble machine last time he was at Walmart.  Andrew is in heaven.  Now he can have all the bubbles he wants!

For some reason he thought it would be fun to eat the bubbles.  So he would get down on the ground and pop them with his mouth.

Family Fair

Last month, was the Family Fair at the middle school.  This is such a great event and lots of activities for the kids to do.

Checking out the toys at the Montessori booth.

Andrew’s favorite, seeing the fire trucks and getting a fire hat and sticker from the firemen.  I think we have at least 4 of these hats now, and he wears each one of them backwards.

Andrew loves stop signs.  Every time he sees one, he says “red stop sign, S-T-O-P, stop.”

Fire Pit

Aaron and Andrew decided we needed a fire pit for the backyard.  We have such a great time roasting hot dogs and making smores.  It is so fun to build a fire in the backyard and pretend we are camping.  We love to sit around the fire and talk and look at the airplanes fly over head or the stars when they start to come out.

Saturday we decided to make smores so Aaron built a fire.  Little did Andrew and I know he rolled up sparklers from last 4th of July and put it inside the cardboard.  It made a great fire!  Our neighbor ran across the street to check on us and make sure our house wasn’t on fire since he heard all the crackling.

Ready for some hot dogs.

Enjoying the hot dogs.  This is one of Andrew’s favorite things to do, roast hot dogs and marshmallows. I guess a boy’s love for fire starts at a young age.

I love these 2 boys!

A Star Wars Party

Last Friday, one of Andrew’s good friends, Zack, had a birthday party.  It was a Star Wars party!  I helped his mom, Laurel, plan the party and do some of the decorations.  We had a great time!

The birthday boy, Zack, getting ready to blow out the candle on his cake.  (Andrew just woke up and was insistent on wearing his hood.  What can you do?)

The kids had masks of different characters.  Andrew chose C3PO.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without having delicious cake and ice cream!

Laurel had made all the kids light sabers out of pool noodles.  Whenever we go to Zack’s house to play, Andrew always has to play with a light saber. He was very excited to find out he got his own one that he can take home.  He kept asking me, We get to keep this light saber at our house?  I said yes and he would get the biggest smile on his face.

Fighting Zack’s uncle Johnny with his light saber.

Laurel set up a Jedi training area for the little Jedi’s.   The had to crawl under tables, around chairs, fight the death star, keep balloons off the ground with their light sabers and defeat Darth Vader (uncle Johnny) in the hall.  At the end they got Jedi certificates.

Andrew took some time out to help Zack sister, Hayley, play the Star Wars theme song on the piano.

Swinging with Tyler

A few weekends ago, my grandparents came into town.  We had a big dinner at our house for my whole family.  After dinner we went outside to play, since the weather was so beautiful!  Andrew and uncle Tyler had quite a good time on the swings.
