He Likes it Spicy!

It amazes me what  AJ will eat.  He takes after his dad and likes things with a lot of flavor.  There are times that I think, AJ won’t eat this, it is too spicy, but he loves it.

We went out for Mexican and AJ is all about the chips and salsa.  We got him the mild salsa, which he found to be delicious.  He kept saying yum every time he took a bite.

To Tired To Drive

I love this picture of AJ.  We ran to Safeway after P.S. I Love You the other day and he wanted to ride in the car cart.  As I was grocery shopping I realized he was pretty quiet and I looked down and he was fast asleep in the car.  I think he played hard at preschool and was ready for a nap.  It made a quiet and easy rest of the shopping for me.

A Note

So I realized I haven't blogged in awhile so I did 6 of them tonight!  Enjoy!

Lounging In Superman Jammies

After the birthday party we went to the mall.  We went to Old Navy to pick up a few things and Aaron saw these Superman jammies that Andrew had to have.  I know, we are all shocked that they weren’t Batman.

After bath time, we decided to try them out.  Andrew went downstairs, grabbed a snack and climbed up onto the couch and lounged there, eating and watching the Cosby Show.  He looks so grown up in these jammies.  I can’t believe he will be 2 this summer.  He is not so much a baby anymore.

I put these all up here so you could see the many faces of Andrew.

My Future So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

Today we went to our friend Ace’s 2nd birthday party. In the goodie bag there were some cool sunglasses. Andrew was trying them out on the way home.

Emergency Preparedness Fair

Today at the Student Stake Center, there was an Emergency Preparedness fair.  There were booths on food storage, 72 hour kits, water storage, Red Cross and other such things.  The things Andrew enjoyed the most was the fire truck, ambulance and helicopter.  Yes, they had a helicopter there.  So cool!

Trying out the police motorcycle.  He was not a fan.

Exploring the helicopter.  He loved all the buttons.

Trying out the fire truck.  He thought it was cool too.

Even Smoky the Bear was there.  At first Andrew was a little leery of him, but after a bit he warmed up to him and gave him lots of “5’s.” He then followed him around the church for quite awhile.

They had a kids table to color at.

We had a good time and got some great information and questions answered on how to prepare for any disasters.  Even before the disasters in Japan hit, Aaron and I have been feeling like we need to get our food storage together and get things ready in case of an emergency.  When we were in Spokane we went to the cannery to see how start our food storage and how everything works there.  Our next home project is to expand the garage and we are going to build a food storage room in there.  It will be nice to have a place to organize everything for our family.

Ready For a Nap

This morning I was upstairs doing laundry and cleaning and Andrew came up stairs to help.  He then got really quiet so I went to go see what he was up to.  He had gotten his binky and blanket out of his bed, climbed up onto the bed in the guest room and fell asleep.  I couldn’t believe it!  He is not one to sleep anywhere except for his bed.  He wont even lay down with us when were are still in bed and thinks it is time to wrestle and play.  He is not one to take a morning nap either, but he must have been tired.

Happy 4th Year Anniversary to us!

March 9th Aaron and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary.  I can’t believe it has been 4 years already!  It feels like we just got married and are in the Newlywed phase of life.

The 9th was a Wednesday and I had mutual in the evening so one of our good friends volunteered to watch Andrew while we went out to lunch.  We had a great lunch at Swilly’s.  Thanks Beth!

That Friday Andrew went to Grandpa and Grandma’s house to spend the night and Aaron and I went to Spokane.  We booked a night at the Davenport hotel.  I always wanted to stay at the Davenport and we got a great package deal. We decided to stay across the street at the Davenport Tower.  The Davenport is decorated in 1912 old English style, where the Tower was built in 2007 and done in a Safari/animal theme.  It is such a nice hotel, I recommend it to anyone!  We ate dinner that night at the Safari Room restaurant in the hotel, which was delicious!

On Saturday, Aaron woke up not feeling well so we ordered room service for breakfast and took a tour of the Davenport hotel.  We then did a little shopping and at a late lunch at Red Robin and then came home.  We were going to do a session at the temple, but had to postpone it to another date since Aaron didn’t feel good.

When we got to my parents house, Andrew ran over to us and keep going back and forth giving us hugs.  He really missed us.  It was so cute.  We missed him too but it was nice to get away to spend time together.

I can’t believe we didn’t take any pictures of our weekend.  We even had our camera.  Sorry there are no pictures and just a bunch of words.

I Can Help Myself

The other day I was making dinner but apparently I was not going fast enough for Andrew. He opened the door to the pantry and got a bag of chips and toddled out into the living room. When I got a chance, I went and checked on him and he had opened the bag by himself and was quite content eating his chips.

Shoes and a Birthday post-all is one

Andrew has entered the stage where he loves wearing other peoples shoes. When he and I are shopping and I am trying on shoes, he feels he needs to try on shoes as well. It is fun to watch him get the shoes out of the box and try to put them on over his own shoes. Good thing my shoes are roomy. Anytime there are shoes laying around the house, he is trying them out.

At my family birthday party on Sunday, he was trying on Aunt Kate’s boots and my new shoes. When I unwrapped them and pulled them out of the box, he decided he needed to see how they fit him.

I had a wonderful birthday this year. Sunday my family came over for a taco bar dinner. Yummy! I absolutely L-O-V-E Mexican food! I could eat it every day! I then opened presents: a Scensy candle warmer from Kate and Tyler, Just Dance 2 for the Wii (so fun! I recommend it to everyone) from Aaron, my mom made me a weekly menu chalkboard and bought me some cute bowls and of course the wonderful red shoes, from Old Navy that I wanted, from Emily. The girls busted up the living room floor with Just Dance. (I think they guys thought they were too cool for it. Really I think they were worried that we would beat them at it.) We felt sorry for the guys, so we played Rock Band. We had delicious red velvet cake from Costco. Another recommendation from me. You should try it!

On Monday (my real birthday) I took the day off from work, but still had a training to do that day. I was going to use my manicure/pedicure gift certificate from Aaron but something came up and I watched a co-workers baby. Then I wanted to go out to dinner for my birthday but AJ was so grouchy we stayed home and ate more tacos from the day before.

On Tuesday I made up for it. I had more training for work so Andrew spent the day with Grandpa and Grandma Mertes. I had a break after my morning class and lunch so I went and got my manicure and pedicure. So wonderful and relaxing! If you haven’t been to Hollywood Nails and Spa yet, you need to! I have tried all the other places in Pullman and this is the best place by far. I need to make a monthly tradition out of this, especially in the summer when it is sandal season. Then Aaron and I went to South Fork for lunch. Such a great place with yummy food. If you are in Pullman and I haven’t tried it yet, it is a must go. Make sure and order the fries, they are the best on the Palouse!

Well now I am 33 and don’t feel a day older. I had a little melt down when I turned 25. I was so excited to turn 30, it seemed so grown up and glamorous. I have really enjoyed being in my 30’s that I wonder when my next melt down or exciting age will be. I expect when I turn 40, I will be a little shocked that I am that age or maybe it will happen when I am 35. Only time will tell. I will let you know. But for now I am grateful for where I am at in this stage of life. For those who know me, this is truly a miracle for me to say this. I am no more wondering what else is out there that I may be missing. I am truly content with where I am at. I have an amazing husband and son, wonderful family both extended and In-laws. Aaron has a job he loves and it is enough to support us without me having to work, which is truly a blessing. There are so many 2 income families out there barley squeaking by and I am able to stay home and be a mom to Andrew. We have a wonderful home to live in and live in such a family friendly neighborhood and town. We have been truly blessed by our Heavenly Father.
