Fun With the Mclain Boys

Two Saturdays ago Tucker and Riker came over to play.  AJ had such a fun time with these two boys.  It was fun to see them interact together.

The boys playing with the kitchen set.  They made some pretty good meals to share.  Perhaps we have some future chefs in our midst.

Aaron got a remote control car from one of his friends for Christmas and was showing the boys how it worked.  AJ had a good time driving it.  He is still in the retrieving phase.  If it got stuck or went to far he would go get it and bring it back to Aaron instead of putting it down on the floor.  Even Tucker had a good time driving it, even though he wouldn’t put the cars down to play with the remote.

Thanks Tucker and Riker for coming over to play!  You will have to come again soon!

Andrew’s New Suit

When we went to Spokane last week, I bought Andrew a suit that was on clearance at Target.  Oh how I love target and wish we had one here.  Yesterday he wore it to church.  He looked so handsome in it.  Aaron wore his brown corduroy sport coat with his red tie so he and Andrew would be matching. I should have gotten a picture of my two handsome men.

Welcome to the World of Ketchup!

Today Andrew and I went to Spokane with Grandpa and Grandma Mertes and Aunt Emily.  We had a great time shopping and spending the day together.  Andrew was watching us dip our fries in ketchup and wanted to try it.  He thought it was great and dipped everything he was eating in ketchup.  He even thought it would be great to drink it.  I texted Aaron at work that “we are eating lunch and Andrew is drinking ketchup.”  He replied “that’s my boy.”

Do you like that bruise on his forehead?  He was helping me make dinner last night and climbed up the stool and onto the counter.  When dinner was ready he thought it would be fun to try to walk down the stool rather than crawl down it.  It didn’t end well.

Yum…Chocolate

I had some leftover pumpkin puree so I made chocolate chip pumpkin cookies.  Andrew thought they were delicious to say the least.

Mix together and bake 375* for 8-10 minutes.  Yummy!

What Andrew Learned Today

It seems that everyday Andrew is learning something new.  I love it!  It is fun to watch him play, explore and figure things out.

This morning, I got out the step stool to organize a cupboard in the kitchen. The next thing I knew Andrew had figured how to climb up the stool onto the counter and was sitting right behind me.  We both got down off the counter and he climbed right back up.  So I got the camera and videotaped it so dad could see what he learned today.  Here is the video.  (Ignore the garbage on the counter, I was cleaning the kitchen.  The cupboard he reached for was the one I was organizing.  Smart boy.)

Andrew also learned how to climb in and out of the Duplo's tub today.  He had a good time sitting in it and watching Blue’s Clues this morning.

I will end this post with a cute one of him playing with he cars.  He has figured out how to pull the basket of cars out and help himself.  I am not looking forward to the day when he is dumping the toy baskets all over the house though, just to do it.  I love listening to him make car noises while he plays with his cars.  I think it’s funny how all boys learn this sound.

Is 16 Months Too Young To Teach Modesty?

Andrew is now in the undressing phase. He likes to take off his coat, shirt, diaper and his socks. Oh, those socks. As soon as his shoes are off, he sits down and takes his socks off. He must like his toes free to wiggle. He hasn’t figured out how to take off his pants yet, but I am sure that will come any day now. Since we are in the winter months, we got him some footie jammies and he likes to unzip them and walk around like that. Maybe he is getting too warm and that is his way of telling us.

A few weeks ago, I changed his diaper and didn't put his pants back on. I told him "you can sleep in your shirt and diaper." I put him in his crib for a nap and shut his door. 30 minutes later he was still awake and playing in his bed instead of napping. I went to see what he was doing and he had taken his shirt and diaper off and was running around in his crib naked. There was also a very large wet spot in the corner where he peed. So I had to strip his whole bed and wash everything! He thought it was funny and proud of himself. What a boy! I wonder if we will go through this again one morning, when we go into his room in the morning and find a naked boy.
