AJ’s first haircut

A couple of weeks ago, Grandma Mertes came by to drop some stuff off and cut the boy’s (Aaron and Andrew) hair.  AJ’s hair was getting long over the ears and long on top.  So Grandma trimmed him up and he looks such like a little boy.

Putting the cape on and seeing what Grandma was doing.

He didn’t really like getting his hair cut.

A cute little boy.

10 months

I am starting to get more and more behind on blogging. Andrew turned 10 months of Father’s day. I can’t believe in 2 months we will be celebrating his first birthday!

He is walking with assistance everywhere! We have a push walker and he gets all around the house with that. We have been working on child proofing the house. We have a shelf/table in the corner of the dining room for all our board and card games. We knew AJ would find that and have lots of fun, so we put all the games in the hall closet and turned it to a play area. We bought baskets to organize all the cars and balls and little toys and it is the perfect height for him to stand there and play. And all the toys stay in a general location for now. He has figured out how to open drawers and cupboards, turn knobs and push buttons. He can get from a sitting to crawling position. He can get up on all fours and scoot backwards but not forwards. So I am guessing it will happen any day. He constantly sleeps on his stomach. I am just happy he is not opposed to his stomach anymore. He still has 2 little teeth on the bottom but is teething like crazy, so I am expecting more soon. He still hasn't mastered “mama” yet. He loves saying dad and babbles using dad several times. I tease Aaron that Andrew is telling all his secrets. And not post would be complete without pictures to “ooh and ahh” over:

We went to the park and had lunch one day. AJ decided he could get out part of his own lunch and get it ready himself.

He also thinks he is old enough to mow the lawn like dad.

IMG_4475 IMG_4476 IMG_4479

He and dad build forts to sleep and play in while mom is at work.

I think he likes his new play corner.

His Stats:

Ht: 29 inches

Wt: 20 lbs 9 ozs

Head Circ: 47.5 cm

We have been having fun playing outside, going to story time at the library and playing with friends. I love the summer time with the warm weather and playing outside. We ventured on our bikes last week and rode from our house to Sunnyside park to play and back up the hill to our house. Aaron and I have set a goal to ride our bikes 3-4 times a week this summer and go camping more. I can’t wait to take Andrew on these adventures!

Gardening

My neighbor has cilantro growing like a weed in her garden and she brought us some.  Well me being the mexican food fan that I am, we go through the bag of cilantro in a week.  I called her today to see if I could come get some more and she gave me a planter box full of cilantro plants.  I have a very brown thumb and kill any plant I am given and try to take care of. (It really should be a super power.  I wonder if I could be a plant killing super hero?  Probably not.)

When I got home from mutual tonight, Andrew and I planted them.

Andrew had a good time playing in the potting soil, with the shovel and the watering can.  I had to stop him a few times from picking the leaves off the plants.

Note: Andrew is usually fully dressed, but Aaron changed his diaper and didn't put his shorts back on and he wanted to go outside with me.

Happy Father’s Day!

A fun Father’s Day was had here at the Wright’s house. Aaron woke up to the smell of breakfast and was excited for that. Who wouldn’t love to wake up to the smell of bacon and potato pancakes?! I made Aaron potato pancakes, scrambled eggs and thick slice of ham and sausage fried up.

The weekend before Aaron got an early Father’s Day present: a pressure washer. He washed the cars with it and tried it out on the fence. He is like a kid in a candy store with it. Always looking for something to wash. My mom came over on Saturday to drop off some produce and cut Aaron’s hair. He returned the favor by washing her car and she got a good laugh out of how much he loves his pressure washer. Andrew also got dad a book for him to read to him entitled “I love you, Daddy” and a picture of Andrew and I in a frame for his desk at work.

After church we went to Post Falls to visit my dad and have dinner with him. He is doing so well. It looks like he may come home this week. He has his trach out and is eating soft foods. He can wheel himself around in his wheelchair and is doing great walking with the parallel bars. It looks like he will go to a rehab facility in Moscow or Pullman to finish out his physical therapy before he comes home. It is a true miracle that he is alive and we are so grateful that he is. Thank-you everything for your faith and prayers.

I am so grateful to have such wonderful men in my life. My dad, my Father in law and Aaron have always been there for me and taught me so much. I love them so much. Happy Father’s Day!

Meet Super AJ

Meet the newest member of the super hero’s club…Super AJ! He was in his chair eating breakfast while I was cleaning the kitchen. I look over at him and he has his bib backwards. Apparently it was getting in the way of eating.

Now to figure out his super powers…

Warm weather = pool time!

The weather was so BEAUTIFUL today and we had good time playing outside.  It is so nice to see the sun and warm weather rather than rain, rain and more rain.  Grandma Mertes bought AJ a pool for this summer, so we decided to try it out.  We filled it up with hot water from the tap and cold water from the hose, so it was just right.

AJ’s new swimwear!

Trying out the pool:

He loved it!  He splashed and had a great time.

Here is a video of him in the pool, so it is as if you right there with us.

New Shoes

AJ, my sister Emily and I were at the mall yesterday and we saw these new shoes and knew we had to have them!  They are so cute!

These are the first shoes with laces, so he is all about untying them.  Good thing for double knots.

AJ’s new hairstyle

On Saturday, AJ and I were getting ready and I thought I would try a new hairstyle on him.

IMG_4355 IMG_4358

I can’t believe how long it is getting on top. It make quite a cute mohawk. Aaron just rolls his eyes and laughs when he sees his new do. (It is better in person since his hair is so blonde.)

AJ’s First Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Yesterday for dinner, Aaron made grilled cheese sandwiches.  We had sliced American cheese in the fridge leftover from my sister’s graduation BBQ and Aaron got excited to make grilled cheese sandwiches.  Apparently the sliced American cheese makes the best grilled sandwiches.  AJ thought it was quite tasty and kept saying “mmmm” while he ate it.

 IMG_4371 IMG_4372IMG_4370 IMG_4373  IMG_4375IMG_4374

It has been so fun to give him “real food” verses baby food.  He feels like such a big kid eating at the table with mom and dad and eating what we are eating.
